Crafts
Over 85 booths of handmade craft items will be available at the Fairgrounds. The items for sale include miniatures, various wood items, basketry, jewelry, toys, furniture, dried flowers, sweatshirts, dolls, ceramics, clay works, herbal pieces, quilting, carvings, and numerous apple related crafts. Enjoy the pioneer costumes and decorations in side by side buildings!

Demonstrations
Some of the more interesting tradesmen from the area will show case their skills in the dmonstration area next to the Show Arena and in various locations throughout the grounds.  See spinning, mini-baler, quilting and more as it was done in the 1800's.  Also, watch the sheep shearing demonstration every half hour outside the Sheep Barn.  the demonstrations are a part of the Festival you won't want to miss.

The Open-Air Building features pioneer as well as present-day demonstrators with products available for you to purchase.  Enjoy basket weaving, quilting, pottery making, caricature drawing, and much more.  The Noble County Master Gardeners will again present "Herbs of the Period and Heirloom Plants."

The Log Homestead features only traditional craftsmenusing period materials and tools to produce their strictly authentic products.  You will enjoy the period demonstrations of a flint knapper, a scrimshander, a cooper and more.  This area is underwritten by Evans Dodge.Chrysler.Jeep and Community State Bank.  Also, don't miss the performances of "The One-Room Schoolhouse", presented by LEAP of Noble county.  See the Schedule of Events for times.

Primitive Area
The Primitive area is an encampment of Mountain Men, Indians, French & English Traders and other people that held a rendevous time for the purpose of trading furs, leather, cloth, beads, clothing, cooling utensils and other items. They enjoyed the celebration of being together after the long winter. You will see merchants in marquees, blanket traders in lean-tos, lodges & tipis of the Indians. You can see & join in the selling, trading and the making of the trade goods. Also there scrimshaw items, knives, wood chests, chairs, tables, lanterns, clothing and jewelry, and toys for the boys & girls, handmade leather bags, etc. The blacksmiths will be set up in their area so you can watch them as they make their wares. We will also be having contests during the day such as hawk & knife throwing, skillet throws for the women, & cross-cut saw contest. Come and enjoy the life of the 1840's with us.

Antiques and Collectibles
Antiques and collectibles from the area's finest dealers are offered for sale in the Merchant's Building. Browse among a wide selection of items from the past including glassware, dishware, ironware, furniture, jewelry, millinery, table linens, quilted items, childhood memorabila, paper goods, and primitives.  The friendly, costumed dealers may be able to locate just what you're looking for.  There is something old and different every year.


Food
As the name implies, the Apple Festival will feature a smorgasbord of dishes prepared with apples. No one will be left out with all of our other tasty non-apple delicacies, many prepared over the open fire in black iron kettles, over 100 in all. So, when you come, be sure to come hungry. We guarantee you'll go home satisfied!

Miscellaneous Vendors
Scattered among the food vendor, you will find a Farmer's Market with fresh fruits & vegetables, dried flowers and baskets.

Civil War Encampment
The 50th Virginia will be hosting a Civil War living history encampment on the Fairgounds all weekend.  Members of different Federal units from the area will also be in attendance.  The area will include a museum tent with information about the Confederate flags and the soldier's gear, talks about life during the War Between the States, artillery demonstrations and military drills throughout the day.  Bring the family and learn about the life of a soldier in the 1860's.

Contests
A variety of contests are offered.  Apple seed spitting and a baking contest are just some of the events.  There will be a fiddle, banjo, and harmonica contest, and some frog flippin'.  Contact the Kendallville park and Recreation Department for contest details.  See the Schedule of Events for times.

"Raise a Ruckus"
East Noble High School Theatre and Vocal Music Departments present an Apple Festival musical revue. This foot stomping production, located in the Show Arena, turns back the clock to the days of melodrama, vaudeville and good family fun. See the Schedule of Events for times.

Pioneer Church Service
An 1800's style non-denominational service will be held on Sunday at 8:00 a.m. in the Show Arena.

Dekko Foundation Children's Area
Kids won't be left out of the Festival Spirit. The Children's area is located south of Ye Olde Floral Hall. Includes the following features:


Dekko Little Pioneer Stage
Rest your feet and sit for a while to enjoy the fantastic entertainment in Floral Hall featuring storytellers, puppets and musicians.  See the Schedule of Events for times.


Children's Pioneer Craft Village
This village area, underwritten by Dekko Foundation, was created to entertain and educate children about crafts during the 1800's.  Children can participate in a variety of hands-oncrafts such as tin punch, clay coil pots, corn shuck doll making, basket weaving and more.


Children's Activities
This area includes games and activities sponsored by non-profit organizations and individuals.  Such activities include candle making, monkey bridge and rope swings, a straw maze, pony rides, saw dust scramble and a log roll!  All this is located in the Children's Area on the walkway.

Open Prairie Stage
This stage will provide a less formal, outdoor setting for our entertainers, featuring storytellers and magicians.  See the Schedule of Events for times.

The Settlers Roost
If you prefer a very informal atmosphere and a close-up look at the performers, this stage, located in the Craft Building, provides the opportunity. See the Schedule of events for times.
